Wii games:

I've had a look at some of the online games in my bookmarks file. These are all browser based games, and most of them work fine in either Internet Explorer or Firefox, or both. I've tested them on the Wii, and compiled a list of games that work quite well, with minimal effort, using the Wii Internet Channel.

The DS browser doesn't support Flash, and only limited JavaScript. And I don't own a Playstation, or an XBox, and I have no intention of getting one, at least until I win the lottery or otherwise fall ass-backwards into a pile of money or something. Therefore, I haven't tested these games on anything except the Wii. If anyone out there has tested these games on DS, PSP, Playstation, or XBox please let me know. (Does XBox even have a browser? I don't know that it does.)

I claim no responsibility for the content or safety of any of the links on these pages. I've tested and rated the games themselves, and that's all. To my knowledge, I've never gotten a virus or spyware from any of these sites; at least nothing more than a cookie; but I make no claims that they are still or will remain that way.

The games do not generally contain any adult content, but I have no control over the games. I only link to them, and the content may change without my knowledge. Where possible, I've provided advanced warning if any of the ads on the page are adult in nature. But I have no control over that either, and I might have missed a couple.

Bottom of the Sea

Bubble Shooter

Journey to the bottom of the sea, buy guiding your diver from rock to rock accompanied by soothing music. My wife loved this game a while back. It works great in a browser, and pretty good on the Wii, but you have to scroll up a notch or two to see the meter.

This is a pretty good puzzle game that occupied a good deal of my "bored out of my tree" phase a few months back. Before I bought the DS, it was something to do while the wife watched Gillmore Girls. It works fine on the Wii. On some older TVs, it's difficult to discern red from purple, and your pointer gets in the way sometimes, but otherwise it works.

Penguin Smack

Tumbler

Suicidal penguins nose-dive off a cliff, where a Yeti whacks them with a club to see how far they go. It takes a little getting used to with the Wii controller, but otherwise functional.

Move the ball around. Don't go out of bounds or touch the barriers. Collect green things while avoiding the red things. It's more challenging than it sounds.

Ant City

Lucky Balls

Use a giant magnifying glass to focus sunlight on things walking the ground below. It's the kind of game you play when you're generally pissed off with the world around you. There's no apparent win or loose, and only one way I've figured to end the game.

A rather unfortunate name for an otherwise good puzzle game. Match the colors to keep the balls from reaching your fish.

xRaye

Pac-Man

Something of a puzzle game. Use the arrow keys to visit each node with the wrench thingie to pass a level. Works in the Wii Internet Browser, if you have a USB keyboard.

A Pac-Man clone made in Flash. Works in the Wii browser, but requires a keyboard.

Samorost

Samorost 2

One of those puzzle games where you have to get certain things going in a certain order to go to the next level. Imagine a Terry Pratchet novel as illustrated by Terry Gilliam after droping acid.

Apparently, they made a sequel

Smashing

Stone Breaker

A sortof-OK Breakout clone from MiniClip

Another Breakout clone with a stone aged theme.

Star Ball

Bricks of Egypt

Another Breakout clone with a space aged theme.

Another Breakout clone with an Egyptian theme.

Plastic Balls

Mortanoid

An interesting variation on Breakout, where your paddle is in the center of a circle.

It works on the Wii, but as you're playing, a weird thing happens. It's like gravity reverses or something. There's a powerup that does that, but either the powerup forgets to run out, or the Wii is miscarrying something. I'll test it again later, but other than that, it works.

Another breakout clone.... FROM HELL! MWA HA HA HA....

Cursor Invisible

Bowman

The premise of the game is, in a normal browser, your mouse pointer is invisible making it harder to see where your shooting. But on the Wii Internet Channel, it's rather easy to see where the big giant blue finger is pointing. So while the game is functional, it's not as challenging as it would normally be.

An archery based Scorced Earth clone. Two guys shoot at each other with bows and arrows. Not exactly a prime example of firearm safety, but...

Rigelian Hot Shots

Jedi Trainer 2.0

Guide the fireball to the bottom of the pit. Try to hit the insect thingies without hitting the walls.Requires a keyboard.

Use your lightsaber to reflect laser beams back to the targets. A little tricky, and even trickier on the Wii, but pretty cool once you get the hang of it.

Zelda: The Seeds of Darkness

Wii Picros

A Zelda clone. Link must find the seeds of darkness somewhere in the Forest of Hyrule, and destroy them. Requires a keyboard

A Flash based Picros game for Wii. There are many Flash games that just happen to work on the Wii. Wii Picross is one that's actually made with the Wii in mind. It works, and is functional at 100% zoom, but if you zoom in or out at all, doesn't work as well.

Comboling

Training Targets

Connect the squares, horizontally, vertically, or diagnoally.

Cool 1st person target shooter. Keyboard is optional, and useful, but not required.

Reflections

Tama

Use lenses, mirrors, and prisms to shine the laser and light up all the bulbs.

You can only handle the disk in the green space. Try to toss it into the red or blue areas, and avoid the black areas.

Sobics

Squares

For some reason, this was in my Breakout Clones folder. But it's not a breakout clone. Kinda like... cute little kiddy show characters playing columns upside down. It's.... kinda lame, actually.

You are a black square. Try to collet other black squares while avoiding the red squares. Black circles are powerups, red circles are a handycap.

Klax 3D

Bobs Adventure

A 3D version of Klax. Requires a keyboard

Spaceship lander puzzle game. Fly from one landing pad to the other while listening to annoying techno music. Requires a keyboard.

The Maze Game

Invaders

Guide a robot through a maze. Requires a keyboard.

Pretty decent Space Invaders clone. Requires a keyboard

Leaf Boarding

Fracture

Cartoon rabits boogie board down the river on a giant leaf. Requires a keyboard.

Reminicent of Geometry wars. Requires a keyboard.Move with arrow keys, and change shooting direction with WSAD.

Super breakout

Donkey Kong

Another Breakout clone. This one is interesting: I think it detects the version of Flash that you're running, and serves up a compatible version of the game. So it works on Wii, but looks different than it would in a PC browser.

Donkey Kong clone in Flash. Requires a keyboard.

To try some games that don't work in the Wii Internet Channel, click here. These are some pretty good games that work in most browsers. You might need a plug-in for some of them, but they otherwise work.

To try some games I'm still testing, click here. These are straight from my bookmarks, so they will work on your PC. But I haven't tested them on the Wii yet.
